Class Details: This class will be an intro to what Mindfulness is, and different kinds of thoughts and feelings demonstrated by my videos, drawings, fun activities, mind maps & so much more. Mindfulness is a moment-to-moment, non-judgmental awareness, cultivated by paying attention in a specific way, that is, as non-reactively, as non-judgmentally, and as open-heartedly as possible.
This class lets the children determine what they want to accomplish that day. This could be an academic goal, a behavior goal, or a social goal. After that, the children will tune in to their current states. Then, they’ll consider how their current state of feeling and thinking will help or hurt them as they work toward their daily intentions. What can they do, think, or say that will help them to realign toward their daily intentions? Finally, give the children the space to self-correct with strategies they have identified to be personally meaningful. It is perfect for a check-in activity to start the day on the right foot.
